Privacy statement

ShoppingTomorrow processes privacy-sensitive data, otherwise known as personal data. ShoppingTomorrow believes the careful handling of personal data to be very important. Therefore, we make sure that personal data is carefully processed and secured by us.

In our processing we comply with all the requirements of the privacy legislation. Among other things, this means that:

  • we clearly state the purposes for which we process personal data. We do this through this privacy statement;
  • we limit our collection of personal data to only the personal data that is necessary for legitimate purposes;
  • we first ask you for explicit permission to process your personal data in cases where your permission is required;
  • we take appropriate security measures to protect your personal data and demand the same of parties that process personal data on our behalf;
  • we respect your right to view, correct or delete your personal data on your request.

ShoppingTomorrow is responsible for data processing. In this privacy statement we explain which personal data we collect and use and for what purpose. We recommend that you read this carefully.

Use of personal data

When you fill in our participation form or download documents from our website, we obtain certain information from you. That might be personal data. We only store and use the personal data that you have provided yourself, in the context of the service you have requested, or for which it is clear that it is provided to us for processing.

We use the following data for the purposes stated in this privacy statement:

  • Personal data (name + address)
  • Telephone number
  • Email address
  • Sex
  • (Profile) picture
  • Company name
  • Job title

Register

Certain parts of our website require you to register first. After registration, we will store the personal details you provide via the username you have chosen. We save this data so that you do not need to enter it every time and we can contact you in the context of the implementation of the agreement.

We do not provide the data linked to your username to third parties, unless this is necessary in the context of the implementation of the agreement that you conclude with us, or if we are required to do so by law. In the event of the suspicion of fraud or abuse of our website, we may hand over personal data to the competent authorities.

Portal access

With our portal you can access an area where you can adjust the settings yourself, including making changes to the information you have provided.

Advertising

We will not just inform you of our new products and services via the information on our website, but also:

  • by email.
  • via social media.
  • by phone.

Contact form and newsletter

Through our website we offer the possibility to ask questions via a contact form, in which you are asked to enter several details to handle your question. You decide for yourself which data you provide, but some data such as email address and name are required. The data that you send to us will be kept for as long as the nature of the form or the content of your email requires it to be fully answered and processed.

We offer a newsletter with which we inform hosts, chairpersons, experts and interested parties about our services, research results and market developments. Each newsletter contains a link with which you can unsubscribe. Your email address will only be added to the list of subscribers with your explicit permission.

Publication in the ShoppingTomorrow blue paper, website and book

When you take part in the ShoppingTomorrow program, the following information is published on the ShoppingTomorrow website, in the ShoppingTomorrow book and in the blue paper. The following data is visible to everyone:

  • Your first and last name.
  • Your (profile) photo.
  • Your job title.
  • The company you work for
  • The information provided by yourself.

You are required to fill in this information truthfully. At your request we can anonymize your personal data before publication.

However, it is not possible to anonymize your data after publication.

ShoppingTomorrow publishes research results that are made for and by the market. For that reason, it is necessary for ShoppingTomorrow to disclose which experts have contributed to the research results and to make the collaboration between the experts visible.

Adverts

Our website displays adverts.

Distribution to third parties

We can pass on your data to our chairpersons, hosts and partners such as BBP Media. These partners are involved in the implementation of the agreement.

If you download a document (blue paper, presentation, report) from the ShoppingTomorrow website, your information will be provided to the author of the document. This is clearly stated next to the download button. It is not possible to download documents without providing your details. You can also find the authors on the expert group pages.

We have carefully weighed your interests and the interests of ShoppingTomorrow. We pass on the following (non-sensitive) personal data to the author: your name, company name, job title, email address and telephone number. This is necessary to be able to offer the downloads for free. The basis for this processing is our legitimate interest.

The author of the download may use your data to approach you once for their own marketing and advertising purposes. After that, your data must be deleted.

A processing agreement has been reached with the authors of the research results stating that your data will not be used for other purposes and will be deleted after three months.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to keep track of how visitors use our website. We have entered into a data processing agreement with Google to make agreements about how to use our data.

Furthermore, we have not permitted Google to use the obtained Analytics information for other Google services. Finally, we have the IP addresses anonymized.

Social media buttons are included in our website. With this, the administrators of these services collect your personal data.

Security

We take security measures to limit abuse and unauthorized access to personal data.

Storage periods

Participants
The personal details of participants described above are kept indefinitely for the purpose of finding out who was a participant in an expert group. At your request, your data will be deleted from our database.

Interested parties
The personal data described above of parties interested in ShoppingTomorrow will be kept for five years. This information will only be used to contact you by email for possible future participation in the ShoppingTomorrow program.

The data is then deleted unless there is a legal obligation that requires longer storage (such as the obligation under tax law to store payment data for seven years).

Third-party websites

This privacy statement does not apply to third-party websites that have links on our website. We cannot guarantee that these third parties will handle your personal data in a reliable or safe manner. We recommend that you read the privacy statement of these websites before using them.

Changes to this privacy statement

We reserve the right to make changes to this privacy statement. It is recommended that you regularly consult this privacy statement so that you are aware of these changes.

Viewing and changing your data

For questions about our privacy policy or questions regarding access and changes to (or deletion of) your personal data, you can contact us at any time via the details below.

You can also send us a request to view, change or delete this data. In addition you can submit a request to request a data export for data that we use with your permission, or state with reasons that you want us to limit the processing of personal data.

To prevent abuse, we can ask you to adequately identify yourself. When it comes to access to personal data linked to a cookie, you must send a copy of the cookie in question. You can find this in the settings of your browser. If the data is incorrect, you can request us to change the data or have it deleted.

Dutch Data Protection Authority

Of course, we will be happy to help you if you have any complaints about the processing of your personal data. Under the privacy legislation you have the right to submit a complaint to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (‘Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens’) regarding the processing of personal data.
